| Mother's Day, 1996. I accompanied my
wife to our local nursery. She decided on some Quaking Aspen and one or two
others. I asked the owner of the nursery to sell me a little device to support our
new purchases. He informed me there was nothing he would carry in inventory and/or
endorse. He told me the best thing going was to cut up an old garden hose - just
like everyone else has done for years. Well, just a week earlier I had peeled a portion of a hose out of the side of four trees my wife and I had planted the year before. One of the trees has died and the others have big, ugly knots in the middle of their trunks. The owner's words were a challenge! Add
